Menu Plan for the Week! Or few days…?

I used to be very particular about planning a weeks dinners. You can see that from posts here. I’d read the sales for the week…then I’d figure out what we were eating! Breakfasts were always kinda the same, and lunches were leftovers. Now we’re in a different place eating wise. We still have all our own meat and dairy, but I buy pretty much all our dry goods in quantities to last us months. Can you believe I’m back and menu planning!? I have been sort of planning meals for the past week or two, but for 2 months before that I couldn’t think farther into the future than what I would eat in an hour. My Dad’s here this week! Friends for dinner Friday night! Hello to another crazy week!   Tomorrow I’m picking up a massive bulk order from an Organic, Non-GMO food store and in there I have: Green/Red Lentils Kidney/Black/Small White/Garbanzo beans Green Peas Soft White/Red Fife wheat Popcorn Panella Rice Oats Quinoa   All in large amounts. Can you believe it’s Monday again already? I abandoned half of the meal plan last week, ditching the last few days, and used leftovers we had sitting in the fridge. Here we are at another week! Another Menu Plan! This week I had some issues. I don’t know why but it seemed harder than usual to come up with what we were going to eat. I missed making a menu plan last week! It’s a big part of my week that I look forward to. I shopped at the end of last week and I’m not planning to go back until next week. I’m considering switching my menu plan’s to sharing on Sunday, as I usually write them on Sunday. Most people also have Sunday off, meaning they are better off making a menu plan that day as well. I’ve ditched my my January challenge, but you’ll find my conclusion here.   I think it’ll be a midsize grocery shop this week, cashews and the local honey I buy are on sale, which means I’ll be dropping abut $20 on each, so my grocery bill jumps fast that way. This week was an odd one for groceries and menus. Last week we were snowed in and used up many things as we couldn’t go grocery shopping. I didn’t really have to buy many groceries except fresh veggies/fruit I picked up at a local market.   For Breakfast We usually have oatmeal, toast, the odd bowl of cereal or pancakes. Well we’re back at Monday again, and I’ve got my menu plan ready! Do you have yours? I always do mine on Saturday or Sunday. I’m busy this week! I’m subbing at a preschool the next two weeks two mornings a week for 4 1/2 hours. Also, on Thursday night an out of town friend arrives and we go into Victoria the next day. I’m very adament about having menu plans…it’s part of me keeping my house running with less effort. I would be a mess if I didn’t know, at least roughly what we were having for dinner. As we have meat every night, and it’s always from our stash of hunted and homegrown meat in the freezer, it has to be thawed in advance. This Week: Monday December 26th, to Sunday, January 1st.
