I used to be very particular about planning a weeks dinners. You can see that from posts here. I’d read the sales for the week…then I’d figure out what we were eating! Breakfasts were always kinda the same, and lunches were leftovers. Now we’re in a different place eating wise. We still have all our own meat and dairy, but I buy pretty much all our dry goods in quantities to last us months. We’re getting a CSA box from Bullock Lake Farm, so that takes care of our vegetables, it’s just a matter of picking up some fruit to last … Continue reading Menu Plan for the Week! Or few days…?
Can you believe I’m back and menu planning!? I have been sort of planning meals for the past week or two, but for 2 months before that I couldn’t think farther into the future than what I would eat in an hour. Needless to say my husband did a lot of his own cooking… It’s VERY exciting that our “Tuesday Market” has started up again because it’s only farmers and food producers, unlike the Saturday market that has all sorts of vendors. Two weeks ago I got salad greens, spinach for smoothies, strawberries, asparagus, dill and cilantro. I may have … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday

Can you believe it’s Monday again already? I abandoned half of the meal plan last week, ditching the last few days, and used leftovers we had sitting in the fridge. I went grocery shopping a week ago, and my plan is to not go again until next Monday. You see, the thing is, that I actually really love grocery shopping. Its almost a hobby. So I’m trying to stretch it out more, not be so addicted to it? I usually go once a week and never spend over our budget, usually less, and always get so many fabulous whole foods. … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday!
Here we are at another week! Another Menu Plan! This week I had some issues. I don’t know why but it seemed harder than usual to come up with what we were going to eat. Do you ever get weeks like that? For Breakfast, We’ll have pancakes, oatmeal, toast and smoothies For Lunch, We usually have leftovers during the week, and on the weekend we often make soup or bacon and eggs. Cowboy works on jobsites without a place to warm up or do anything with his lunch, it needs to be able to be eaten while sitting in his … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday
I missed making a menu plan last week! It’s a big part of my week that I look forward to. I shopped at the end of last week and I’m not planning to go back until next week. I’ve got lots of frozen and and canned vegetables that I put up this summer and I want to use them up. For Breakfast we’ll have oatmeal, smoothies and pancakes/waffles. Yum! For Lunch we’ll have leftovers or soup. For Dinner we’ll have… Monday Ginger Venison w/ leftover confetti Rice. I usually make this recipe with a cut up roast or steaks but … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday
I’m considering switching my menu plan’s to sharing on Sunday, as I usually write them on Sunday. Most people also have Sunday off, meaning they are better off making a menu plan that day as well. Maybe my posting it that day will encourage you to do yours at the beginning of the week as well? What do you think? Please comment below! I’m going away on the 15th, until the 21st for my Sister #2’s wedding, so I’m not going to grocery shop until then, making sure that there is absolutely nothing that will go bad in our … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday+7 for 7 goals
I’ve ditched my my January challenge, but you’ll find my conclusion here. I think it’ll be a midsize grocery shop this week, cashews and the local honey I buy are on sale, which means I’ll be dropping abut $20 on each, so my grocery bill jumps fast that way. Last week ended up being an unofficial comfort food one bowl meal week. We were all craving them and ended up having things like stew, chowder, and jambalaya. I’ve got all of them photographed and written down so you’ll see them this week! Without further ado, here is our … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday+7 goals for 7 days
This week was an odd one for groceries and menus. Last week we were snowed in and used up many things as we couldn’t go grocery shopping. I didn’t really have to buy many groceries except fresh veggies/fruit I picked up at a local market. For Breakfast We usually have oatmeal, toast, the odd bowl of cereal or pancakes. For Lunch We have leftovers! Sometimes soup too. Dinner is our main meal, and this is what I’ve planned… Monday Bacon Wrapped Night. This is Cowboy and his friend JD’s idea, we’re having Venison Tenderloins, Backstraps, lobster and scallops … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday!
Well we’re back at Monday again, and I’ve got my menu plan ready! Do you have yours? I always do mine on Saturday or Sunday. I’m busy this week! I’m subbing at a preschool the next two weeks two mornings a week for 4 1/2 hours. Also, on Thursday night an out of town friend arrives and we go into Victoria the next day. So I’ve got a few days of wanting simple dinners to keep it easy for ourselves! Two of the days, I’ll chuck the meal in the crock pot so it’s ready when we get home! … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday
Hi! Hope you had a great New Years! We had so much making and eating gluten and dairy free chinese food. (I’ll share the recipes later this week, I managed to snap a couple half good photos before everyone dug in) My cousin, Liz, (who’s blog Easy Gluten Free Goodies, is a great resource for those trying to eat healthy on an allergy laden diet, on a budget no less.) her husband, and their children who are 3 1/2 and 1 1/2, came over so it always takes a bit extra to plan. They don’t ever want to be … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday
I’m very adament about having menu plans…it’s part of me keeping my house running with less effort. I would be a mess if I didn’t know, at least roughly what we were having for dinner. As we have meat every night, and it’s always from our stash of hunted and homegrown meat in the freezer, it has to be thawed in advance. This Week: Monday December 26th, to Sunday, January 1st. Breakfasts: We alternate between oatmeal, yogurt and granola, buckwheat pancakes, toast with peanut butter and jam and rarely we have cereal. Lunches: Lunches for us are leftovers or soup. I almost … Continue reading Menu Plan Monday!
