In a quart jar put your elderberries, ginger, cinnamon and other spices if using in a quart jar.
Cover with brandy. Label your jar! You think you'll remember...but you wont!
Make sure lid is on tight and give it a gentle shake.
Tuck in dark cupboard, shaking it if/when you remember.
After a month or so, strain the herbs out. Squeeze well and discard.
Add equal parts honey, and mix well to combine.
See notes for dosage.
Keeps for up to 5 years in the cupboard, so make sure you label well!
Notes
To Use;
If you don't add honey, halve all these amounts. You can get fancy with easier to dose bottles such as these dropper bottles. Otherwise, you'll need small measuring spoons such as ¼ teaspoon.
Please note: it is not recommended for babies under a year to consume honey. For toddlers, elderberry syrup may be a better choice. These usage amounts are guidelines, do what feels right for your family and remember, I'm not a doctor, just a Mama sharing her experience!
