Sourdough Croutons

Croutons are everyone's favourite salad item. They are so easy and economical to make at home so grab a sourdough loaf and go!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf stale sourdough bread
  • ¼ - ½ cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 - 2 cloves grated garlic or 1 teaspoon of garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice the sourdough bread into ¼ to ½-inch cubes and place in a large mixing bowl.
  • Drizzle oil, sprinkle salt, pepper, and minced garlic or powder over bread pieces and mix thoroughly with hands. Add a bit more oil if bread is not fully coated.
  • Add to prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Place in oven for 8-10 minutes, rotating halfway.
  • Take out of oven and allow to cool completely.
  • Serve with salad, soup, or munch on as snacks.

Notes

  • Store in a sealed container for several weeks. You can give a quick refresh in the oven and cool again before using if they seem soft.
  • Switch up the seasoning as you wish.
