Key Ingredients

Bread - Grab your sourdough loaf that's been set out a few days. You can either do this on purpose or somehow just forget you have bread! For a rustic look, tear your bread instead of slicing.
Olive Oil - This is a great neutral oil for toasting up croutons. You can also use avocado or sunflower.
Seasoning - Salt, pepper, and garlic give you a nice option to go with any type of soup or salad.

FAQs
They aren't just for salad! I like them on thicker, creamy soups such as Creamy Butternut Squash Soup. Try making a chicken tortilla soup and tossing the croutons in Homemade Taco Seasoning before baking.
Stale bread just seems to toast up better, in my opinion. If your bread isn't quite stale, you can slice it into ยฝ-inch slices and lay out in the open air for a few hours. Then dice and proceed.
A microplane zester is awesome at this. But you also don't need any special equipment like this. I bet more kitchens are likely to have a box grater for cheese. Use the smallest size on this to quickly and easily grate your garlic.
