Key Ingredients
Ribs - I love pork spare ribs here, and that's what my cook time is based on. You can also use beef or venison if you are comfortable with the cooking.
Blackberry Glaze - I make my own blackberry glaze and it's amazing both cooked onto these and served on the side.
How to Make Blackberry Glazed Spare Ribs
***See recipe card below for precise measurements and instructions.***
Step 1: Place ribs in a baking dish and add salt.
Step 2: Pour on some glaze!
Step 3: Use a brush so spread the glaze evenly.
Step 4: Roast, adding more glaze partway through.
Tips and Tricks
- Add more glaze partway through the cooking time so the ribs don't dry out.
- Save back some glaze to use as sauce at the table.
- Cut the ribs into your desired portions before serving, so everyone feels like they are getting a great cut of meat on their plate!
FAQs
Around 200°F is the recommended safe temperature for ribs. Keep in mind that you need to get the thermometer in the center of the meat, not touching bone, which can be a bit tricky. If you wiggle a bone, you should have a lot of movement, aiming for that "fall off the bone" tenderness!
You can try anything once you are comfortable with the cooking method. For a quick option, you can always try watering down some preserves with a touch of water plus sprinkle in some Worcestershire or soy sauce for saltiness. Really, anything goes here!
Make sure if your oven puts out the heat from the top, to set the rack to the lowest setting. You can also splash some water in the pan if things seem dry, or even cover with foil if they are too dark on the top, or burning, but not quite cooked through. You don't want things burning too early so that you can still broil at the end to achieve the perfect crust.
