Homegrown Flower Tea
Many summer garden flowers are full of nutrients & benefits that make a wonderful Homegrown Flower Tea. The combination of calendula, marigold, rose petals and mint make the most beautiful floral tea mix!
Ingredients
- 1 part dried calendula flowers
- 1 part dried marigold flowers
- 2 parts dried mint
- 1 part dried rose petals optional
- 1 part dried nettles optional
- 1 part dried red clover optional
- 1 part dried chamomile optional
Instructions
Homegrown Flower Tea Mix
- To mix up the classic "honey tea cow juice" of my husband's childhood, mix together, by weight or by cup measurement into a large bowl the calendula, marigold, and mint.
- To add your own twist, consider adding other flowers such as rose petals, nettles, red clover, and chamomile.
- After its been mixed scoop them into a jar, label and store in the cupboard
Brewing Homegrown Flower Tea
- To make a cup of tea, steep 1 rounded tablespoon of tea mix in a cup of boiling water.
- Add honey and milk if you want the true "honey tea cow juice" experience!
- To make a pot (I have a large 1.5+ quart teapot) I use a good ⅓-1/2 cup of tea mix.

I tried looking for dried marigolds online, and all I can find are dried calendula. Are they the same? I’m so confused!!! Thanks!
katehosie
They are not the same but you can omit the marigold or sub for another flower

Thanks for sharing this recipe Kate. I made a big batch and it is already gone! Even my non-tea drinking husband thought it was good!

Thank you so colorful and I have many of these flowers and herbs growing...how do you store it to prevent mold etc.
kateschat
Dry them fully and then put in a jar. Keep the jar on the counter where you can see it and check the bottom to make sure there is no condensation if you are questioning if theyre dry enough.

I saw this last spring and decided to turn part of my garden into a tea garden. Now that it is almost winter my youngest loves drinking this in the morning. I love the boost of vitamins.

Honestly ? have loved miragolds since a child & never considered making a tea out of them before! Our girls and I are drying some of our marigolds and calendula here in Ohio in hopes of making our own flower tea. Thanks for sharing ?
