Add tons of flavor to white run to make your own homemade holiday spiced rum. Perfect on its own or in homemade egg nog.

It's super economical to buy one bottle of white rum and then have it on hand for when you need it, and use part to make spiced rum. No need to keep many bottles on hand! I also stole a spent vanilla bean from my DIY Vanilla Extract to be even more economical.
Spiced rum is perfect to use in Raw Egg Nog when the holidays are upon us. I love to make Root Beer From Scratch for those that aren't drinking the hard stuff. There's just something fun to truly making your beverages from scratch ingredients.

FAQs
You can play around with the options as you learn what you like. It will also depend on if you are consuming it neat or adding it to other recipes such as egg nog. We like peppercorns, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. The good things is this makes a fairly small jar so you can quickly learn how to tweak to your liking.
Keep in a cool, dark place, like all your other alcohol. Enjoy room temp or chilled, or even warmed up on a cold night!

Homemade Spiced Rum
Ingredients
- 1 vanilla bean
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 10 peppercorns
- Chunk nutmeg about fingernail sized
- 3 ginger coins the size of a quarter
- 32 oz white rum
Instructions
- Put all your spices in a quart jar.
- Top up with white rum.
- Let sit 14 days, shaking once a day/when you remember.
- Strain spices and discard. Enjoy!
Notes
- Sneak a vanilla bean from your homemade extract. No need to use a fresh one here!
- For nutmeg, I like to save bits and pieces that I have grated off of. Once they are too small to hold safely to grate they are great here!
