Orange juice, bananas, and cream make for an excellent cold dessert when summer temps soar! You'll love the texture of frozen banana.

I think a popsicle mold is one of the best things you can buy for the kitchen! Look for one that makes a bunch at once, so you don't have a bunch of individual parts and pieces. You definitely want a lid for ease of use, and you do not want reusable popsicle sticks! The kids will lose those the very first batch.

Key Ingredients

Orange Juice - I like pulp free here, it just has a better texture when frozen.
Bananas - Yellow, but not brown, because you want them to hold their shape.
Cream - Only use heavy cream here, not milk (but read on for dairy-free options).
How to Make Banana Orange Popsicles
***See recipe card below for precise measurements and instructions.***

Step 1: Blend everything except the bananas and set aside to let the bubbles go down.
Step 2: Quarter the bananas as shown.

Step 3: Measure how deep the molds are against a stick.
Step 4: Cut the bananas so they fit in the mold, leaving a little space.

Step 5: Add sticks to straighten the bananas - do NOT follow the curve!
Step 6: Place a banana stick in each cavity.

Step 7: Pour the orange juice mixture to fill each pop.
Step 8: Add the lid so the bananas stay submerged and pop in the freezer.
FAQs
Yes! I have tried both almond milk and coconut milk and they work fine with the orange juice. Just watch for added sugars so that you aren't making an overly-sweet treat. Easily sub these in and just make sure and label your bag of finished popsicles so you can quickly and easily serve guests.
Besides the kids losing any sort of silicone or plastic sticks or holders, it means you cannot re-use your mold until you eat them all. We buy wooden popsicle sticks in bulk because as soon as these are frozen solid, we throw them in a bag and can make more. Any bag or large container will do, it depends on if you need/want to label them or just want a surprise.
While you can use non-dairy milk, you cannot swap out the cream for any type of milk, even whole. The reduced fat content means the orange juice will curdle the dairy, and that's no good for anyone. Totally safe, but has an awful texture that doesn't go away with blending.

Banana Cream Popsicles
Ingredients
- 3 medium bananas
- 2 ½ cups orange juice
- ½ cup heavy cream see notes
- Splash vanilla extract
- Pinch salt
Instructions
- Cut bananas in half, then half again lengthwise.
- Use a popsicle stick to measure the height of one of the reservoirs.
- Cut each banana to that height, so that the bananas aren’t sticking up because they will float a little. You want to be able to put the mold lid/top on in order to make the popsicles straight.
- Insert the popsicle stick into the banana. It doesn’t need to/ shouldn’t follow the curve.
- Mix together remaining ingredients and whisk well.
- Put a banana into each mold section and fill with liquid ingredients.
- Freeze.
Notes
- DO NOT use milk in place of heavy cream. It will curdle and look awful.
- You CAN use almond milk or coconut milk in place of the cream to make these dairy-free.
