Air fryer kale chips are crispy and crunchy and everyone will love them. It's so easy to make them in the air fryer on the fly.

Kale is pretty polarizing, you either love it or hate it! But there's no denying we can all use more leafy greens in our diets. It actually makes a perfect snack that even kids go wild for, if you can at least get them to taste it. Definitely give them Homemade Ranch Dip to help it go down!
I've made Dehydrator Kale Chips before, and really enjoy them. But that can be an expensive kitchen item not everyone has, and I think air fryers are really gaining in popularity. So we've made sure they can easily be made in the air fryer so you can enjoy them on a whim.
Key Ingredients

Kale - Grab a bunch from the garden or store and wash well.
Oil - Even using the air fryer you still need a bit of oil to get the right texture.
Seasoning - We like salt, garlic powder, and nutritional yeast, but read on to see what you can use!

Step 4: Cook in the air fryer, watching carefully.

Step 5: Watch for them to brown but not burn!
Step 6: Allow the sheet to rest so they achieve maximum crispness.
FAQs
Nutritional yeast is a great option to get a cheesy flavour but keep vegan. You can definitely add some grated fresh Parmesan, but I like to do that immediately after they come out of the air fryer rather than bake it on. Reach in your cabinet for any sort of seasoning like ranch or Taco Seasoning.
You can make these kale chips in any sort of air fryer you have, I just recommend doing a single layer so that the kale crisps up nicely instead of being in soggy layers. This means you might have to work in batches! You will also want to watch through the window or keep checking inside to not burn the chips. As they dry out they also have the chance to become airborne and you don't want them to be coming into contact with the heating element.

Air Fryer Kale Chips
Ingredients
- 1 bunch kale about 10-12 cups
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder, smoked paprika, or other spices
Instructions
- Strip kale from stems and rip into 2-3 inch pieces. Keep them all roughly the same size.
- Massage the kale and oil together in a large bowl.
- Heat air fryer to 350°F.
- Add the salt, garlic powder, and nutritional yeast. Mix well!
- Lay out on the air fryer basket and spread out in a single layer. Cook until the edges are starting to brown. Be careful…it only takes 5-6 minutes and some varieties of kale cook faster than others!
- Take out of air fryer and let cool on a cookie sheet…they will continue to crisp slightly as they cool. Transfer to bowl after cooled.
Notes
- Try out different seasonings such as ranch mix or taco seasoning.
- If using grated Parmesan as seasoning, toss with the kale immediately after removing from the air fryer.
