Air fryer sliced apples are the perfect way to get more from your appliance. While great on their own, add them to oatmeal or ice cream.

I love to come up with quick and easy recipes. The air fryer is a great appliance because kids can start using it quite young! It's fairly safe to use and has easy to read controls, so they can make up a batch of this when the craving hits.
I also love to make Baked Apples in the Air Fryer, for when we want a full on dessert. Not just for sweets, Air Fryer Pumpkin is super easy to do as a savoury side dish! Have yet to get yourself an air fryer? Make up some classic Apple Strudel with homemade puff pastry instead.
You can serve these up as-is, or go ahead and stir them into your morning bowl of oatmeal. They are also perfect over No Cook Vanilla Ice Cream!
Key Ingredients

Apples - Select apples that are firm and will hold their shape when baking. Whatever you generally use for pie is perfect here.
Butter - Whatever you have, salted or not.
Brown Sugar - Yes, a hint of sugar is what makes these truly delectable!

FAQs
Select apple varieties that have a firm texture and hold up to baking. Some great ones are Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Gala, Pink Lady, or Cortland. Anything you like in your apple pie is good here, too. Depends if you like tart or sweet or somewhere in between. And just like with pie, using a mixture really rounds out the tastes in this dish.
I rarely take the time to peel, plus that's where a lot of your nutrients are. I figure if God put the skin on we're good to eat it as-is, especially when it comes to potatoes and apples! If you have a peeler-slicer around like in the above photos, it makes quick work of things so it's fine to peel. But you can always go the fastest route with a regular old slicer or your knife and skip peeling. The peels get super tender in the air fryer plus it helps the slices hold their shape.
Pop them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. You can eat them cold or allow to come to room temp. I like to reheat on the stove if we are doing a family dessert with ice cream. Just enough to take the chill off but not totally melt the ice cream in your bowl! You can also stir them into oatmeal on the stove toward the end of the cooking time to heat through.
Doesn't matter! It's all about preference or the method you are using. All that matters is that they are roughly the same size and thickness so that they cook evenly.

Air Fryer Sliced Apples
Ingredients
- 6 - 7 medium apples see notes
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Wash apples and decide how you will be slicing; feel free to peel or don't.
- Melt butter in a large mixing bowl and add sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir to combine.
- Stir apples into butter mixture, ensuring all slices are coated.
- Preheat air fryer for 5 minutes at 400°F.
- Give air fryer basket a spritz of oil and spread apples in a single layer. You might need to work in batches.
- Sprinkle extra cinnamon on apples if you like them with lots of spice.
- Make sure you have a drip tray underneath the air fryer basket if you want to catch the drips.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes depending on the thickness of the slices and how crispy you want them. I found 10 minutes worked for the thinner slices and 12 for the thicker ones.
- Repeat until all apples are cooked.
- Take apples out of air fryer and cool for 5 minutes before enjoying.
Notes
- Select apple varieties that are crisp and retain shape when baked, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or Gala.
- Store in the fridge and reheat as desired. Also tastes great cold!
- Perfect on their own, stirred into oatmeal, or over vanilla ice cream.
